The fun started on January 13, 2000 when I arrived at Tapalpa, Jalisco Mexico. The plateau the town is situated on is at 2200 meters and the nights are cold, but it also means a good lapse rate when the sun shines (which it did everyday for two weeks).
Typical thermal climbs averaged 7 m/s (1200 feet/min) and winds were from 5 km/hr at launch to up to 35 km/hr! Long out and return tasks were called everyday (75 km being the longest).
Enjoy these photos and indulge me in some tourist (non-flying) photos.
