Have you ever
visited a Web page and had no idea who wrote it, whether the
information was credible, or which organization had sponsored
it? Most of you would answer, "Of course. All the time!"
Now, the bigger question: Would a person visiting a Web page
associated with your school easily know these things? If
not, read on for more information on just what each Web page
should include. Remember, search engines very often send people
to an "inside" page and not to your home.
Get
Educated: Informing Your Users
At a minimum, each
Web page should have a clear indication of its sponsoring
institution. This can be as a logo or link. Ideally your logo
is a link that will take the user to your home page. Better
yet, each page should include copyright, last updated, and
contact information. Education, in particular, requires
credible information sources. Make sure that your own pages
will be seen as worthy of consideration! A good checklist from
the University of North Carolina is worth a visit:

Checklist.
