This is the world wide home page for preservation of history about the Auchinachie Family. And we do have family scattered all over the world from Scotland to Australia, from Canada to the United States. We try to use this site to stay in touch and to preserve and record family history.
If you're a member of the Auchinachie family (and your name doesn't have to be Auchinachie) we'd like to hear from you. Please send us your news and family stories for inclusion on this site.
Since we posted this site back in August 1997, it has helped us to make contact with members of the family in Canada, the USA, Australia, Scotland and Hong Kong.
Here's a quick overview of the things you can find here. ![]() Learn a bit about the history of the family name, including the wide variety of spellings that have been recorded over the years. Here are a few stories about individual family members that we've been able to piece together including a story recently received from Ian Auchinachie in Australia about a ghost with an Auchinachie connection. Our Montreal correspondent, Jerry Auchinachie, sent in copies of the illustrations of "The Phantom Nun of Auchanachie." ![]() We've been able to trace our Auchinachie family tree back to Alexander Auchinachie who lived between 1715 and 1791. Some of the tree is available here. ![]() Bet you didn't know that there are some old ballads that reference Auchinachies and that one of them has even been recorded by Loreena McKennitt. We'll show you how you can hear her sing it. Plus, a recently discovered old ballad about the role of Auchinachies in the Battle of Sheriffmuir. ![]() This is a collection of some old (and some not so old) family pictures gathered from around the world. ![]() Other bits and pieces sent in from family members far and wide. |
