of preserving one of the great traditions of all time—PYSANKY!
These Ukrainian decorated eggs were handcrafted by expert and best-selling
author Joan Brander. Pysanky are made with real eggshells and decorated
in the tradition which originated in Ukraine. Symbols and designs
are applied with melted beeswax using a tool called a kistka. Eggs
are dipped into successively darker dyes. At the end, the beeswax
is melted off to reveal the colorful eggshell. This art is easy,
affordable and fun for all ages from 5 to 95!
